Ive made a variety of jewelry in my life. As a child i worked with Japanese seed bead on on a loom and hand woven. I had the opportunity to learn a few things from my great uncle, who after spending years researching and document native American bead weaving published a book on the subject. It was a lot of information for me to absorb at the age of 9 but i was able to follow and learn from it independently.
Jumping ahead to college, I was a graphic design major when I took my first metal class and I was hooked. Everything is tiny and detailed, complicated, colorful and 3d. Unlike most of the people I have know in the jewelry field I enjoy and am open to the use of computers and whatever pieces of tech solves my problems.
My current body of work is mostly laser etched enamel. My pieces are either cast, or hand cut out and fabricated in the case of the earrings. All of my patterns are custom, I don't copy anything from books or online sources, it takes time but I think in the end it's worth the effort.
My work is currently available online directly through me, on Nantucket at the Artists Association of Nantucket and the farmers market in the summer months.
